Chd to get 108 ambulance service, finally

Finally, the Chandigarh health department is going to launch emergency medical response ambulance service 108 on Tuesday. The service is being provided in over 15 states and two Union Territories (UTs) for years but Chandigarh has now taken a call.

Finally, the Chandigarh health department is going to launch emergency medical response ambulance service 108 on Tuesday. The service is being provided in over 15 states and two Union Territories (UTs) for years but Chandigarh has now taken a call.

The city is already having around 10 ambulances under 102 facility. Now the health department will place six ambulances under 108 scheme at six different areas of the city. The ambulances under 102 service provide basic transport facility but 108 is an emergency response system, designed to attend patients of critical care, trauma, accident victims and others.

These will ensure that a patient is taken to the nearby hospital within 10 minutes.

These ambulances are well equipped with resuscitation equipments, two-three types of stretchers, and trained emergency medical technicians to render quality pre-hospital care.

These will be stationed at six different locations - Sector 11, Sector 26, Mauli Jagran, Sector 34, Sector 49 and Sector 39 - in the city and will have GPS system.
