The Haryana Civil Services Medical Association (HCSMA) doctors, during a state-level meeting on Sunday, alleged that branded drugs were purchased for chief minister's medicine kit and MLAs hostel, while cheap medicine were procured for common man distribution.
Raising suspicion on the quality of medicines supplied under Mukyamantri Muft Ilaj Yojna(MMIY) in the government run hospitals, HCSMA have demanded a check from an out of state laboratory. They said that public health was taken for granted the government.
HCSMA president Kuldeep Singh said, "How can government adopt double standard when it comes to the health of public and politicians by ordering different quality of medicines."
He said that the free medicine scheme seemed to be hypothetical and impractical as the state government had a big crunch of doctors.
He added that the new policy of hiring doctors on contract was erroneous, as it gives `80-90,000 to contractual doctors, while regular doctors were offered nearly half of the said amount.
Meanwhile, the association also decided to hold a general body meeting under banner of 'Save Health' on 4th February in Rohtak regarding the issues concerning doctors. They also threatened to surround chief minister's local residence if their grievances were not met by then.
