Apna Punjab Party (APP) convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur, while addressing mediapersons at his house at Chhotepur village near Gurdaspur on Sunday, lambasted Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal for allegedly staging a drama of expressing sympathies with border residents by creating a war-like situation.
Chhotepur said that the Badal government spent crores of rupees from the state exchequer on the ‘futile exercise’ of evacuating border villagers.
Chhotepur said that border residents within the 10-km belt from the international border in the state were ordered to vacate their houses and those, who obeyed government orders, had to suffer financial loss, besides undergoing an ordeal of displacement.
Chhotepur questioned why the government hurriedly passed orders of evacuation of border residents, while there was no movement of the Army on the international border.
Chhotepur pointed out that later the orders of asking border people to migrate to ‘safer’ places were withdrawn by the Badal government, perhaps after realising its ‘mistake’.

Chhotepur claimed that the people of Punjab would elect his party to power in the upcoming state assembly elections as they were fed up with the wrong policies of the Congress and the Akalis while Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party stands exposed for its malpractices in the distribution of its tickets for the ensuing elections in Punjab.

While inaugurating the office, Chhotepur claimed that he had formed the Apna Punjab Party to safeguard the interests of Punjab and its people. He said that his party would contest all the 117 seats in the 2017 Punjab assembly elections. He claimed that his party would form the next government in the state.
