City-based wildlife conservationist nominated as special officer in WCCB

Noted wildlife conservationist Sandeep Kumar Jain, chief coordinator of CAPE-India, has been nominated as special officer in Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB).

Noted wildlife conservationist Sandeep Kumar Jain, chief coordinator of CAPE-India, has been nominated as special officer in Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB).

WCCB is a statuary body established by the Government of India under ministry of environment and forests to combat crime associated with the wildlife in the country.

Special officers will assist the field formations of bureau in performing their functions, especially pertaining to collection of information on wildlife crime and illegal wildlife trade. In addition, the officer will also work for capacity building, sensitisation and public awareness on wildlife crime and related laws.

Jain is founder of “People for Animals” in Ludhiana and coordinating animal welfare/conservation organisations in the region. He is also co-opted member of the Animal Welfare Board of India and has worked actively in the Punjab State Board for Wildlife.
