The five-in-one vaccination-Pentavalent vaccine programme-was launched in the state on Wednesday, but kids in Ludhiana will have to wait for a few days to get this vaccination, as training of a few auxiliary nursing midwife’s (ANM’s) in urban area is pending.
The pentavalent vaccination programme was started in the districts where training of staff had been completed, on Wednesday.
Now, these left out or newly-recruited ANM’s of the urban area will be provided training on Friday.
The vaccine has already reached civil surgeon’s office and will be provided to designated centres before the scheme starts. In Ludhiana district, Wednesday has been decided as vaccination day in all health centres.
It is hoped that by next Wednesday, kids will be administered this vaccine in all centres.
Ludhiana civil surgeon Dr Renu said, “We have received the stock of pentavalent vaccine. The training of a small number of ANM’s in urban area is pending, thus, we have called them on Friday for training.”
“After training, kids in Ludhiana will also be provided with five-in-one pentavalent vaccination,” she said.
