Residents of the city are least bothered about following traffic rules and hardly want to learn about it, say students of Vmad (we making a difference) in their feedback to the traffic wing of the Ludhiana police commissionerate.
The students have taken upon the task to sensitise the residents about traffic rules under aegis of the traffic police on Monday.
Around 30 students of a training institute initiated the drive at Jagraon Bridge and Bharat Nagar Chowk, which witness maximum traffic, and distributed pamphlets and traffic-related literatures among passers-by.
According to inspector Raj Kumar, incharge of the city traffic and PCR staff, the students said people commuting in cars hesitated to open windowpanes for pamphlets, and most of the passers-by refused to accept the pamphlets and literatures.
Moreover, the people who accepted the pamphlets did not paid heed on the matter written on it. Some of the volunteers also reported that the people misunderstood them as salesperson.
The inspector said the volunteers themselves vowed that they would always follow traffic rules and would also administrate the oath to others.
Kumar observed that such activities were helpful in infusing a sense of responsibility among the youths to take initiative in this direction.

{{/usCountry}}Baljit Kaur, an instructor at the Vmad, said the institute used to involve students in such activities to raise their confidence.
It was noticed that social activities were vanishing from the life of the youths, she said, adding that such exercise would help youths know about their social responsibilities.
