Soft skills are generally referred to as interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people. This includes team spirit, business etiquette, negotiation skills and behavioral traits such as attitude, motivation, time management etc.

Director general school education Kahan Singh Pannu said: "It is important to teach students the dynamics of the market when they move out of school for employment. For this students need to be trained on soft skills, as they should know how to cope with difficulties and conflict. This will help students to learn and react positively and objectively. This training will help students build a bond with their colleagues. The training will help students become more confident and become professionals who are ready to work anywhere in the world.

"To train teachers on soft skills, we have started training on Edusat for English lecturers and subject teachers of Class 11 and 12 from February 20-28," said Pannu.

Government senior secondary school, Isewal, principal Anoop Kumar Passi said: "We have received a manual of 75 pages from the district education officer and I have given it to the teachers of Class 11 and 12. For teachers, the training has started."
