He presided over a function 'Prayas' of the Sirmaur Students' Welfare Association here.

The students organisations which were playing into the hands of political outfits should refrain from making hue and cry against the system, he said.

The CM exhorted students to conserve their customs and not get swayed by western culture.

At the event, the CM highlighted that the state was known as 'Dev Bhoomi' as lives revolved around gods and goddesses, and recalled the role of Himachal's first chief minister YS Parmar.

"We cannot forget the contributions of YS Parmar in securing statehood."

He also lauded the efforts of the association and said such events helped in preserving cultural traditions.
