CM hesitant to discuss public issues in Vidhan Sabha: Minister

Former education minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Ishwar Dass Dhiman, on Wednesday alleged that chief minister Virbhadra Singh was hesitant to discuss public utility issues in the Vidhan Sabha and therefore the party was forced to take other democratic means to discuss the issues outside the Vidhan Sabha.

Former education minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Ishwar Dass Dhiman, on Wednesday alleged that chief minister Virbhadra Singh was hesitant to discuss public utility issues in the Vidhan Sabha and therefore the party was forced to take other democratic means to discuss the issues outside the Vidhan Sabha.

In a statement issued here, he said the Congress party government in the state was anti-people in general and anti-youth, anti-students and anti-women in particular. He said the way it was dealing with the cause of the students of the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), was shocking and disgusting. He added that the demands of the students were legal and justified and the government should take timely steps to settle the issues.

Dhiman said poor and middle class people were facing the wrath of rising prices and non availability of many items, while the officialdom and the ministers were sleeping over the situation.

The BJP leader was highly upset with the increase in the VAT (value added tax) rates on petrol and diesel. He demanded immediate withdrawal of the same. He said while the BJP led central government was reducing the rates of petrol and diesel all over India, it was shocking that the state government was increasing the same and thereby putting the common man in problem.
