Chief minister Virbhadra Singh on his day-long visit to his home assembly segment- Shimla rural- on Tuesday laid foundation stones of developmental projects worth Rs 35 crore.
He laid foundation stones of science block of Government Senior Secondary School, Banuna, which will cost Rs 2.48 crore; forest rest house at Himri to be constructed at a cost of Rs 25 lakh; a bus stand at Jalog, which will be constructed by spending Rs 1.61 crore and office and residence of horticulture development officer to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.12 crore.
He also laid foundation stones of 10 km Danpan-Sandoa-Sarya-Galaha road, which will cost `6.45 crore; Ayog-Sandoa lift irrigation scheme to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.46 crore and primary health centre building at Dharogra to be constructed by spending Rs 1.09 crore.
Addressing the gathering on occasion of closing ceremony of the Baisakhi mela, the CM said the state government was committed for providing overall development of far-flung and rural areas, which sans basic facilities. "The top priority is being given to road connectivity and as of now 27 road projects worth `87 crore have been sanctioned for Shimla Rural constituency," he said. Besides, one bridge worth `2 crore had also been sanctioned for the assembly, he added.
He said eight water supply schemes with an outlay of Rs 3.60 crore were completed in the constituency during the last two years whereas work on 24 drinking water and irrigation schemes amounting to `118.36 crore was in progress. He said that foundation stone of the biggest drinking water supply scheme of the area amounting to Rs 20 crores was laid.
