Alleging that the government policy on colonies was "impractical", colonisers have decided not to deposit fee and fill conditions by October 7 to get their illegal colonies regularised.
Addressing a gathering of property dealers from across the state here on Sunday, Punjab Colonisers and Property Dealers Association vice-president Surinder Kumar Goga announced that no coloniser would deposit any regularisation fee, as the colony-builders had already arranged civic amenities for the residents.
He said if the new policy was observed, those who wanted to build houses in colonies would have to pay more.
Alleging that the new policy had made the bureaucracy more powerful and left the colonisers "at their mercy", Goga added that people had to visit the office concerned several times because of their dilly-dallying policies.
"People have to undergo difficulties even to get a no objection certificate," he added.
Goga said the association would also seek cooperation from those who owned plots and houses in the colonies deemed illegal and unauthorised by the government.
Urging the government to talk to the association's representatives before implementation of the new policy, he warned of a state-wide stir if their demands were not heard.
