However, the district edication officer's report to her superiors has exonerated the four teachers and has said that the BRP was impersonated and the complaint was a ploy to malign the teachers.

What has worried the education authorities even more is that the 'complainant' had circulated a letter to all school heads and block education officers, purportedly written by the districte ducation officer (DEO) (secondary), directing them to not co operate with the said four 'rape' accused teachers of block Hoshiarpur-2A against whom inquiry was pending with various offices. The letter asks them to inform each and every employee of the department.

However, the DEO Sukhwinder Kaur has denied issuing any such circular.

"I cannot say who has made this mischief. The letter neither carries my signatures nor any memo number. I will lodge a complaint with the police and request them to find out the impersonator as it is a very serious matter," she stated.

"I talked to her in private and asked her to give her statement without any fear. However, she reiterated that she had nothing to with the coomplaint," the DEO added.
