Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday had said the state government can’t extend debt waiver scheme to all farmers due to lack of support from central government, coupled with bad finances inherited from the Akali dispensation.

Talking to reporters during a programme to mark Basant Panchami here, she said it was now the duty of chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh to keep his word. She also asked the CM not to give excuses for not waiving debt of all farmers.

AAP also hits out

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday hit out at the chief minister for “refusing” to extend the debt waiver scheme to all farmers “Was Amarinder unaware about the fiscal health of the state before making promise of waiving entire debt of farmers?” they said.
