Opposition leader Prem Kumar Dhumal on Saturday said the Congress had run away from debates on the issues of “corruption and political vendetta” during the winter session.
Addressing journalists after the session's end, Dhumal said during the winter session, the Opposition had moved three adjournment motion notices for discussion on these issues, but the government had evaded them.
“Chief minister (CM) Virhadra Singh tried to wriggle out of the situation. He is pretending to be innocent, but there are so many allegations and he must reply,” said Dhumal.
Dhumal said it was hard to digest that a person who had `10 crore in his bank accounts took a private loan of `4 crore on 12% rate of interest.
“We may have no objection on the loan, but the CM concealed this information in his affidavit filed at the time of the 2012 assembly elections,” said Dhumal, adding that while information about an education loan of `20 lakh for one of his dependents was mentioned in the affidavit, information about the `4-crore loan was suppressed.
Dhumal claimed that the CM's wife, parliamentarian Pratibha Singh, also concealed information about her shares in Tarini Infrastructure Ltd in her affidavit while contesting the Mandi Lok Sabha bypoll in 2013. “The CM has not responded as to why he took a loan from a person in whose company his family members have shares,” Dhumal said.
Dhumal said that the CM tried to evade such allegations by terming it as BJP propaganda. “However, it is his own partymen who have put Virbhadra in the dock. The 'CD' scam was raised by Vijay Singh Mankotia. Now, the allegations have been levelled by murder accused Congress MLA Ram Kumar Choudhary,” added Dhumal.

{{/usCountry}}On the CM claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had avoided debates on public-related issues, Dhumal said the situation did not change if Virbhadra said so. “The government did not allow us to raise matters of utmost importance, while none of the ministers replied properly on the other issues we raised,” Dhumal said, adding that it was the Congress that had ruined the session.
