Congress councillor from ward number 35 and deputy leader of opposition Sushma Mehta has asked the mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, to make efforts to provide proper parking facility to the residents across the city.
In a letter to the mayor on Tuesday, Mehta stated that parking has become one of the biggest menace for the residents of the city and they have to pay hefty amount for availing the service wherever across the city.
“You being the mayor of the city are responsible for providing basic amenities to the residents of the city including parking. This facility should be provided free of cost as the contractors that are managing these parking's across the city are fleecing the residents,” said Mehta.
She stated in the letter that people have to park their vehicles in a parking near the MC headquarter at Mata Rani Chowk and the deputy commissioner's office where the contractors of the parking charge them more than permitted amount.
“Parking should be free but MC in its race of getting more money is raising the cost of contract for one year as a result parking fee increases putting burden on the residents.” stated the letter.
