Cong councillor dies after prolonged illness

A Congress councillor from ward number 49 here died on Tuesday after prolonged illness. The deceased Sharavan Grover, 54, had undergone liver transplant last month.

A Congress councillor from ward number 49 here died on Tuesday after prolonged illness. The deceased Sharavan Grover, 54, had undergone liver transplant last month.

He was elected councillor from this ward for the fourth time in the elections held in 2012.

He was a popular personality of his area and in every elections, beat his rival with a very heavy margin.

He was also a contender for assembly ticket from city's North area. Member of Parliament Mohinder Singh Kaypee and former MLA Avtar Hanery expressed grief over his demise.

"He was the true leader of masses and spent his life for the cause of people's welfare. Congress party has lost its one of the most committed leader," Kaypee said.
