The opposition leaders try to obstruct projects sanctioned by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president has said during the local assembly byelection campaign. "They made misleading statements about the state's financial status to put doubt in the minds of investors, when World Bank has included Punjab in best destinations for investment," Sukhbir said on Wednesday during a public meeting at Charrik village in this district.

"A comfort-loving, defeated Maharaja is in the battle of Moga with a truck full of ovens and chefs to say his last goodbye," said Sukhbir, "otherwise, he is not accessible to even his family, what to talk of party leaders or workers."

"The development projects initiated by the ruling alliance have started bearing fruit, thereby increasing the frustration of Amarinder," the SAD president added. In his five-year term, Amarinder hardly ever had gone to his office, what to talk of venturing to places such as Moga in the deep interior, he said.

Sukhbir counted the development initiatives and governance reforms under the Akali rule. Captain had been rendered irrelevant by the flurry of development activities in the state, he said. "The state Congress president has panicked at the expeditious completion of all development projects we initiated," said the deputy CM. "The election plank of the SAD will always be development and people's empowerment through governance reforms."

The campaign for Akali candidate Joginder Pal Jain took him to Singha Wala, Tarewala, Nahlkhote, Charrik, and Dagru villages.
