Cong workers demand arrest of party MLA's son

Congress workers carried out a protest march here on Thursday, demanding the arrest of Sardulgarh MLA Ajitinder Singh Mofar's son, Bikramjit Singh Mofar, for allegedly assaulting Youth Congress incharge Ravi Rupal and his brother Rahul Rupal on November 27. Mofar was also reported to have fired in the air.

Congress workers carried out a protest march here on Thursday, demanding the arrest of Sardulgarh MLA Ajitinder Singh Mofar's son, Bikramjit Singh Mofar, for allegedly assaulting Youth Congress incharge Ravi Rupal and his brother Rahul Rupal on November 27. Mofar was also reported to have fired in the air.

The protesters have also demanded the addition of Section 307 (murder) to the charges already faced by Mofar in the case registered.

Later, a memorandum was handed over to Mansa SSP at the district court complex, here in Mansa.
Some workers also threatened to commit suicide, if their demands were not met and the accused was not arrested.

In connection with the incident, police did register a case against Bikram Mofar under Section 336 and 452 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act.

Congress leader Gurpreet Singh Vicky said, "On November 27, gun shots were fired in the air and a group attacked our workers, and one of them had to be admitted to DMCH, Ludhiana. Police are working under pressure."
