In an official communication to the Jalandhar deputy commissioner, the ASI superintending archaeologist has stated that the Nakodar Nagar Council was reconstructing its office in the regulated area, regarding which the watch and ward staff had issued the EO a notice and lodged a complaint with the police.

It said that in spite of the notice, construction was still on, in violation of the Ancient Monuments, Archaeological Sites and Remains (AMASAR) Act, 1958. It has requested the administration to direct the local authorities and police to stop the construction in order to protect the monument.
