Police sources said the department had received information a few days ago that a Faridabad youth, who had been running a stone crusher in Rajasthan, had gone bankrupt and had lost huge amounts of money in gambling.

"We were directed to unearth the casino racket in the city, which has led to several youth losing their money", an official investigating the case said.

The case was entrusted to the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), which arrested Suraj, a resident of Friends Colony at Ballabgarh in Faridabad district on Friday.

Based on the interrogation of the accused, the police arrested 16 others from different casino centers in the city and produced them before a local court.

An official, on condition of anonymity, said: "The software used in gambling is connected to Mumbai and has a counter in Delhi. Rs 60 casino lines were set up in Faridabad with some main operators staying in guest houses and other residential houses."

Out of the 18 accused, 17 have been arrested while the remaining accused has absconded.
Faridabad commissioner of police Subhash Yadav said the department was investigating all angles of this case.
