A large number of trucks parked inside the cotton market here are creating problems for the farmers as well as traders. With the crop arrival set to increase in the coming days, the situation might get worse.

Also, a scuffle between some drivers and employees of the market having taken place over the issue of parking of trucks in the nearby grain market two weeks ago, the issue of parking of trucks in the cotton market might create a new trouble.

Several trucks are being parked by members of the Guru Nanak Canter Union at the place. The union members used to park their vehicles in the grains market here, but after a scuffle ensued between some drivers and the market committee employees, the truck union members started parking their vehicles in the nearby cotton market.

A complaint was lodged by the market committee with the Kotwali police against the drivers, who were involved in the scuffle with employees of the market committee as employees had asked drivers not to park their trucks at the place in view of the start of the paddy season.

Secretary, market committee, Harpyar Singh Brar, said that that he was aware of the problem and the truck union has been asked to vacate the place by Monday morning.

"The district administration had allowed the canter union to park their vehicles at the place as they had no other site place for the purpose. As the arrangement is not permanent one, we have asked the truck union to vacate the place and it has assured us to do so," he said.
