For lack of evidence, the court of civil judge (junior division) dismissed an application seeking registration of a case of abetment to suicide against IAS officer Ashok Khemka in connection with the disappearance of a former employee of the Housing Board.
Nitin, resident of Naraingarh (Ambala), complainant in the case, had earlier approached the police on October 27, 2012, and held Khemka responsible for disappearance of his father Jaswant Singh Poswal since February 16, 2007, but the police did not register the case. After that he approached the court on December 1, 2012. When Jaswant Singh was terminated in 2006, Khemka was chief administrator of the housing board.
According to Nitin, his father was sacked at the behest of Khemka as his father was part of the union of workers and belonged to a backward caste.
He alleged that when his father objected to casteist remarks, Khemka allegedly asked him to jump from the building if he was so fed up with the things.
Nitin had told the court that Jaswant Singh met Khemka a number of times and requested him to withdraw the termination order. He alleged that the financial condition of the family had worsened as his father was the only earning hand in the family. He submitted that on February 16, 2007, his father had told his mother that he was going to meet Khemka to request him to end the matter. He, however, never came back.
The complainant's mother also reiterated the allegations.
Nitin had told the court that Jaswant Singh met Khemka a number of times and requested him to withdraw the termination order. But the court did not find any substance in the allegations of Nitin and his mother. Earlier, even the police had also rubbished the allegations of Nitin.
"I am out of station for chief minister's conference with advocates at Kurukshetra. I am not aware of the order," said Pushpender Badhran, counsel for Nitin.
