Court summons record in Sukhbir badal case on July 7

The court of judicial magistrate first class here has summoned the record of an 8-year-old case against Sukhbir Singh Badal, deputy chief minister of Punjab, on July 7, following a complaint of Naresh Kumar Sehgal.

The court has also issued production warrants of the complainant Sehgal for July 7 for his appearance before the court.

He is presently lodged in the modern jail here for about eight months, facing a trail in an abetment to suicide case of a Kotkapura youth.

Naresh Sehgal had moved an application in the court on June 21 demanding the cancellation of the bail and impounding of the passport of the deputy chief minister alleging that he had allegedly violated the condition of his bail granted to him earlier and, according to that, the permission of the court was required before flying abroad.

Sehgal alleged that Sukhbir had not taken the permission of the court before going abroad and it was a violation of his bail condition.

In this case, Sukhbir Singh Badal was granted bail by the court.

The case dates back to a poll violence incident in 1999 during the parliamentary elections when Sukhbir was contesting from Faridkot parliamentary seat.
