After he took up the issue with education minister who has marked an inquiry into the matter, Tinu along with mediapersons found a lot of discrepancies at the mid-day meal kitchen.

There has been hardly any improvement in the quality of food at the mid-day meal despite criticism from all corners. “The workers were not wearing clean clothes when they were cooking and did not have their heads covered. Toilets were in a bad condition. Tamarind meant to be used in food was kept on the floor,” Tinu said.

“Even the food was not up to standard. Rice was kept in a steel drum and hairs were found in it. We clicked the photographs of all the messes,” he added. He was asked by the workers to taste the cooked vegetable. “The vegetable served to me contained only potatoes and just few peas. I wonder if children would have got a single pea.”

Circle education officer Hukam Chand said he would submit a report to the director general of school education in this regard. He refused to share any information with the media.
