The Haryana gover nment on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation with an aim to enable all government schools to achieve higher and increasing student learning level outcomes (LLOs) through school quality improvement programme.

The state has over 15,000 gover nment schools with 27 lakh students and 1.2 lakh teachers.

The MoU was signed by director, school education, Vivek Atray and Debashish Mitter of the foundation in the presence of chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and education minister Geeta Bhukkal.

Hooda said parents as well as society must be involved while implementing the Haryana School Quality Improvement Programme ( QIP ) so as to achieve the desired results.

The country, which achieves excellence in the field of education will only lead the world, he said, adding that Haryana is a small state representing only 2% of the total population of the country, yet the state has contributed significantly to several fields, especially sports. A foundation spokesman said the global charitable foundation focuses on improving the lives of impoverished children in United States, South Africa and India. It has invested over ` 745 crore in India since 2006.
