DEO feels sorry after hurting woman employee over phone

District Education Officer (DEO-elementary ) Didar Singh had to feel sorry for his alleged misbehaviour with a woman inclusive education volunteer (IEV) over phone after she lodged a formal complaint against at the local police station on Thursday.

The complainant, Avneet Kaur, posted at the Government Primary School, Simbal, Batala had phoned the DEO (E) on Thursday morning to ask for some documents related to the service of her husband Jasbir Singh, who was relieved recently from the education board office in Batala.

The woman had visited the DEO (E) office in Gurdaspur to make a request for her husband's documents, but the officer was not in his office. His Assistant Anu told her that only the DEO could provide her the same. Then Avneet Kaur called up the officer which angered him and he allegedly used "insulted her by using unparliamentary language".

The woman felt hurt and reported the matter to the city police station SHO who immediately called the DEO to the police station.
