The administration was supplying drinking water through tankers to the affected areas, including Tej Colony, Gharam Patti and Tibbi Mohalla, for the past two days, while piped supply was still made available for daily chores.

After a review meeting chaired by deputy commissioner Ramvir Singh in Samana, the authorities have put a complete ban on piped water supply for checking leakages and cleaning the pipes feeding these areas. Samana sub-divisional magistrate Amareshar Singh said 20 tankers would supply water to the affected areas till the outbreak is over. He said arrangements had been made to ensure round-the-clock water supply to residents, besides putting a few tankers on a standby for immediate requirement.

He said alternative arrangement would remain in place till the water pipes were checked, for which the sewerage department and civic body were on job.

The deputy commissioner said the situation was under control as only a few cases had been reported in the past 24 hours.

Officials said reports of 14 blood samples, nine stool samples and 10 water samples were expected by Monday.
