The patients were diagnosed positive for the disease during a special camp held by the health department on Friday.

Dasuya Senior Medical Officer Dr Naresh Kansra revealed that 23 new patients have been admitted in the hospital while many others were given medicines during the camp.

Meanwhile, a team of senior health officials led by family welfare director Dr Karamveer Singh visited the hospital on Friday, met with patients and took note of treatment provided by hospital authorities.

The team directed the hospital authorities to take preventive measures in adjoining areas so that the spread of disease could be checked.

Four patients from nearby village Chak Bamu were also admitted in the hospital on Friday. "They fell ill after drinking unhygienic water from taps. More patients suffering from this disease are expected to reach hospital in a day or two," said Mohinder Singh of Chak Bamu.
