Now, you can fly from Amritsar to Kuala Lumpur four days a week

The flight will be operational on four days, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday.

Air Asia inaugurated the direct flight from Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), here. Operated by AirAsia’s affiliate, AirAsia X, flight D7188, departed from Kuala Lumpur and landed at Amritsar airport (at 10.20pm) on Thursday night.

The return service departed from Amritsar at 11.45 pm on Thursday night and arrived in Kuala Lumpur at 8.05 am, here on Friday morning. Punjab local bodies and tourism minister Navjot Singh Sidhu was chief guest during the occasion.

“The move will boost the economy of Punjab and tourism in Amritsar,” said Sidhu. “The footfall of visitors has reached around 1.5 lakh per day in Amritsar. So, this flight will be beneficial for them,” he said.

“People from 15 cities including Bali, Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore and Bangkok will be able to connect (via Kuala Lumpur) to Amritsar, alongside the existing routes to New Delhi and Jaipur using this flight,” he said. AirAsia X chairman Tan Sri Rafidah said, “Adding Amritsar to the network will boost the tourist inflow .”“Since 2010, our airline has carried over 19 million passengers across 21 cities in India,” he said.

The flight will be operational on four days, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday.
