The city police on Wednesday arrested a disabled person in connection with abducting a four-year-old girl and attempting to rape her.
The mother of the minor girl lodged a complaint at the Moti Nagar police station on Tuesday evening, wherein she alleged that her daughter went missing late in the evening while playing outside their house.
The complainant, Vaijayanti Devi of Jeevan Nagar, accused her neighbor of abducting her daughter.
Police swung into action following the complaint and found the girl from a park at Phase 1 in Urban Estate, Jamalpur.
Police arrested the accused, Gobind Sahni, who had purportedly attempted to rape the girl. Sahni, a labourer, is a resident of the same locality.
A case has been registered against the accused at the Moti Nagar police station under Section 366-A of the Indian Penal Code and Section 12 of the Protection of Child from Sexual Offense Act.
