The woman visited the hospital on April 23 for an ultrasound after she was referred by a doctor at a private hospital.

According to the complaint made by the 20-year-old victim, she visited the civil hospital along with her mother Baljit Kaur and father-in-law Major Singh on April 23 for an ultrasound. Accused Dr Jagjit Singh took her to a room for examination. When she asked him to call a woman doctor, he did not comply. The doctor then allegedly tried to rape her. As she called for help, her in-laws rushed into the room even as the doctor fled.

SHO of Mandi Ahmedgarh police station Davinder Singh said, "A case has been registered against the doctor and the police have been conducting raids to arrest him, but he is at large."
