The MC reply, in the form of an affidavit, came on a PIL filed in 2010 seeking regulating unauthorised construction around the Golden Temple.

The corporation told the high court that a public notice was issued under the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976, recently and objections to the policy framed by the corporation were invited. Of the 859 objections received, 659 were called for personal hearing and the remaining could not be called because of the incomplete addresses, the MC stated.

The corporation has informed the high court that in the Galiara area, there were 21 buildings and of these 21, court cases were pending relating to 15 buildings. For sealing these 15 buildings, an exercise was carried out in December, but was stopped apprehending a disturbance in the law and order situation, the MC has submitted. The MC has also told the court that the government had approved a policy for hotels on "as-is-where-is" basis and a final decision was awaited.
