In the case involving a car bomb blast at Dugri village, near here, on December 5, the defence on Sunday questioned the police theory that it was a case of rivalry between two heads of the Namdhari sect with the main accused trying to eliminate one of them using a human bomb.
The blast had left Ajay Kumar, a resident of Moti Nagar in Jalandhar, dead and prime accused Jagmohan Singh seriously injured. Police say the two had brought three tiffin bombs on November 27 and handed over two of them to Hardeep Singh of Bholath, who is in Kapurthala jail.
Police had recovered a bomb from Hardeep while he threw the other in a pond.
The defence counsel said both heads of the sect are acceptable to Jagmohan and police have been concocting a story involving his client.
He told the court that earlier the police raided houses of two Sirsa-based men but did not find them and now when Jagmohan has undergone two surgeries they want to take him to Sirsa.
He questioned the police’s demand for Jagmohan’s remand as he is in a serious condition, saying who will be responsible if something happens to him.

{{/usCountry}}The rural police again sought five-day remand of Jagmohan, claiming that he was conflicting statements on his earlier disclosures about detonators he had hidden somewhere in Sirsa.
The police said when they were on their way to Sirsa with the prime accused in a police vehicle on Saturday he changed his statement, forcing them to return.
One-day remand is not sufficient to go to Sirsa and recover the detonators, the police maintained.
After hearing both sides, the court declined remand and sent the accused to judicial custody. Another accused Hardeep Singh of Bholath would be produced in the court on January 12.
Speaking to HT, a police official, who is part of the investigation team, said Jagmohan was not cooperating with them and has been making made an excuse of health condition.
The tiffin bomb containing ammonium nitrate that went off in a Maruti Swift Dzire car was brought from Hardeep, he claimed.
