The minister's son and Gaba failed to turn up at the local office of the ED on Wednesday as the deadline of the second notice issued to them ended.

First notice on the two was served in the first week of February this year and they were told to respond by February 28. However, they did not respond. The second notice was issued earlier this month and March 26 was designated deadline.

A senior official of ED said, "We will issue third and final notice to both persons and if they failed to respond again, we will explore other options to get their statements."

On Tuesday, the ED had presented former police officer and accused in the multi-crore drug racket, Jagdish Singh Bhola before a Patiala court for a hearing. Accompanied by ED's assistant director Niranjan Singh, Bhola was brought to the court under tight security cover.

The ED had recorded a supplementary statement of Bhola for further investigation in the case. Meanwhile, Bhola has been shifted to maximum security jail at Nabha due to threat perception.
