The Nakodar city police have booked eight persons on charges of kidnapping, voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons and rioting.
Mehmood Joshi of Malrri village lodged a complaint with police that Mehmood Salim, alias, Sonu, a resident of Gohir village, and his seven unidentified accomplices allegedly attacked him on Tuesday night and kidnapped his sister.
Station house officer (SHO) Surinderpal Singh said the abducted girl had been rescued and handed over to her family.
A case under sections 363(punishment for kidnapping), 323,324 (voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons) and 148 and 149 (rioting) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused.
Further investigating are on and raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused.
