Bickering in district unit of the BJP came to the fore on Thursday, when election of Ravi Mahendru as district chief of the party was set aside by the election incharge. Mahendru termed the move as 'unjust and biased' and filed an appeal with the BJP high command.
Mahendru was declared as elected president of district unit of the BJP on November 25, after the papers of his opponent Shiv Dayal Chug were found 'incorrect' because of the alleged forged signatures of the proposer.
However, Chug filed an appeal before the party's state election incharge Vinod Sharma, who set aside the election of Ravi Mahendru.
In his order, Sharma observed, "With reference to election of district president held on November 23, the appeal filed by SD Chugh is allowed and the order for setting aside election passed. Former president Subhash Sood will continue to be president till election of new BJP district president is held."
Chugh had filed a complaint after the party general secretary Manjit Singh Rai had accused him of forging signatures of Joginder Verma, a circle president, as proposer in his nomination papers.
However, when contacted, SD Chug denied any forgery with the signature and said "Proposer Verma himself declared that his signatures in Hindi were original."

{{/usCountry}}"Rejecting my nomination was an injustice with me for which party has now made correction by setting aside the election," Chug told HT.
When contacted, Mahendru termed the setting aside of his election as 'llegal and biased' and added that appeal against the election should have been decided within five days of filing it, which was not done in this case.
"I have appealed against the order with central election officer Thavar Chand Gehlot, who will make the final decision as per the section 15/4 of the party' constitution," Mahendru said.
