Employer booked for raping minor domestic help

The rural police have booked one Sarwan Singh, a resident of Meharbanpura village, on charges of raping a 17-year-old girl. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 376 of the IPC at Jandiala police station on the complaint of the victim's mother, Ninder Kaur, a resident of Meharbanpura.

The rural police have booked one Sarwan Singh, a resident of Meharbanpura village, on charges of raping a 17-year-old girl. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 376 of the IPC at Jandiala police station on the complaint of the victim's mother, Ninder Kaur, a resident of Meharbanpura.


The complainant alleged that her daughter used to work as a domestic help in the house of the accused. On May 6, her daughter went to his residence but did not return till 5 pm, Ninder Kaur said, adding that she started looking for the girl and found her along with the accused in a structure housing a tubewell.

The complainant alleged that on being spotted, the accused escaped. The girl told her that the accused had raped her. SI Surjit Singh, of Jandiala police station, said a case has been registered against the accused and efforts are on to nab him.
