The MP who was in Fatehgarh Sahib for the coronation of Harbhajan Singh Chanarthal and Dalbara Singh Panjoli as chairman and vice-chairman of the Chanarthal market committee respectively, said that the BJP government at the Centre had recently discussed the recommendations of the Swaminathan report and that the regime was serious on implementing them.

He added that the government was formulating a strategy to reduce prices of fertilisers, medicines and other agricultural equipment to make farming profitable.

Speaking on the occasion, Punjab State Marketing Board chairman Ajmer Singh Lakhowal said the state government should be given the power to fix the MSP so that input costs may be considered before arriving at the figure.

On the issue of a separate gurdwara management committee for Haryana, Chandumajra said chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had interfered in the religious affairs of the Sikh community, which will not be tolerated.
