Termed it a "conspiracy against the dignity of Sikhism", he said that the Akal Takht was the supreme religious authority of the 'Sikh Panth' and asked whom chief minister Parkash Singh Badal wanted to please by taking such "anti-Sikh decisions".

He also questioned the Akalis for their alleged slavish attitude towards the Badals and wondered why the Akalis were not opposing the government stand on the issue. He claimed that it seemed that the SAD was trying to please its political ally BJP by taking such decisions.

Bajwa also said that deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was spending crores of rupees on the development of the holy city of Amritsar even as the government had withdrawn the facility of red roof light from the Akal Takht Jathedar.
