Senior Congress leader Mohinder Rinwa on Saturday raised the flag of revolt against PPCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa alleging that those who had repeatedly stabbed the Congress in the back were rewarded with plum posts in the recently constituted committee.
Rinwa, along with Malkiat Singh Hira, another local leader, announced to resign from the post of executive members of the PPCC.
Talking to HT, Rinwa said Hans Raj Josan, a former minister, had betrayed the party in 1997 by contesting as an independent, while in the 2012 polls, Josan had not only contested against official party nominee Hira but had also opposed party nominees, including him, in the neighbouring assembly segments.
It was ironical that staunch Congressmen had been ignored but Josan had been "rewarded" for the anti-party working with the post of general secretary, he claimed.
Rinwa said appointing Kaushal Kumar as president of the District Congress Committee, Fazilka, was another example of rewarding a person who had worked against the Congress. He alleged that Kaushal had openly worked for Jaswinder Singh Rocky, who had contested as an independent in the last assembly polls; moreover, he was not even a primary member of the Congress and almost an unknown face among the Congress rank and file in the region.
He said Mehtab Singh Gill, who had been appointed as general secretary, had changed his loyalty frequently.
He said Bajwa had adjusted his brother Fateh Jang Bajwa as vice-president and his wife as executive member.
These leaders have forwarded their resignation to Bajwa as well as to the high command.

The Congress leaders said they would raise their voice before the committee being sent by the party high command to Chandigarh on Monday and would demand that the new PPCC list be cancelled immediately.
