"He is innocent and cannot even think of harming the family. It was Irfan and others who pressurised my father to sell the newborn for money," she claimed.

Feroze Khan, the lone male member in her family and a daily wager, is in police lockup along with co-accused Irfan, Satyam Hospital assistant Gurpreet Singh and nurse Sunita on charge of kidnapping the baby boy and selling him for Rs 8 lakh to the Delhi resident. The police remand of all accused was extended by a day on Wednesday.

"I know my father is a habitual drinker, but he is not a criminal. Irfan, Sunita and Gurpreet hatched the conspiracy and made my father the scapegoat. When my father realised his mistake and demanded the child back, the accused threatened him and demanded Rs 1 lakh to cancel the deal," Noori alleged.

Noori, who said her husband had divorced around seven months ago, said she wished to properly educate her son.
