Residents of the district have high hopes from its three youths who are participating in Commonwealth Games at Glasgow.

Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awardee and ace shooter, Manavjit Singh Sandhu, a resident of Ratta Khera village, will represent the nation in trap shooting.
Gurbhaj Singh, a resident of Malsiyan village in Zira, a sub- division of the district, would be sweating it out in the field of hockey and is expected to bring laurels to this border town.
Ravi Inder Singh, a former member of Local Baba Sher Wali Hockey Academy, is another local native, who would be sharing shoulders with Gurbaaj in hockey to fight for scoring a medal for the country.
It's a matter of great pride that local youths are representing the nation despite being natives of this remote backward town which rarely had any coach for any game, remarked Amit Dhawan, a sports lover.
District sports officer, Sunil Sharma said that if the trio managed to maintain their best form, the Indian team would secure many medals in the esteemed games.
