Dhruv, son of Sanjeev Vohra, was reportedly whisked away by a woman, claiming to be a maid at their house, from his KG school at around 12:30 pm, the police said.

Within minutes, his grandfather Ashok Vohra received a call on his mobile with the caller demanding Rs 70 lakh as ransom.

The police were informed and checks and nakas were set up across the town.

"We were keeping a tab on the kidnappers on the basis of the phone location," said DIG Ferozepur range Mohinish Chawla.

At around 3 pm, the child was found, alone, on the Shahih Wala Road in the town and was handed over to the family.

The police claim that the role of an insider in the incident could not be ruled out. A case has been registered under Sections 364 (abduction) and 34 (act done in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.

Ferozepur SSP Manminder Singh said that several people had been taken in for questioning and claimed that the case would be cracked within 24 hours.

SAD leaders Verdev Singh Mann and Montu Vohra visited the family.
