The National Commission for SC/ST had taken cognisance of the matter and ordered the police commissioner to investigate and submit a report with the commission.

Following the orders of the commission and agitation launched by the family of the deceased, the police registered an FIR under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian penal code against unidentified accused.

The police formed a special investigation team (SIT) comprising DCP Nilabari Vijay Jagdale, ACP (North) Dhruv Dhaiya and ACP (traffic) Richa Agnihotri to investigate in the matter.

Supriya committed suicide by hanging herself with a ceiling fan of a room in the girls’ hostel of the DMCH on September 29.

A day after the death of the doctor, the police had filed the proceedings of suicide under section 174 of the CrPC. The family members of deceased had levelled allegations against the doctors of DMCH for harassing her. The deceased also left behind a suicide note, but did not blame anyone.
