With the arrest of four persons, including two women, the CIA staff of Jalandhar police commissionerate claimed to have busted a flesh trade racket in the local three-star colony near Lamba Pind Chowk on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off that suspicious activities were taking place at a residence in the locality, police conducted a raid and arrested four persons, including two women who were in their thirties.

The house was taken on rent by a woman who was the kingpin of the racket and running the trade for the past one month.

In a press conference, assistant commissioner of police (investigation) Harjinder Singh and CIA inspector Gurpreet Singh said the kingpin used to charge Rs 1,000 from a customer and then distributed the share among other girls. They said around 10 unknown girls were associated with the kingpin and they would be soon traced from their call details.

The officials said two accused, including Sonu (20) of Anand Nagar and Palwinder Singh (22) of Sant Nagar have been arrested along with the women.

A case under sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act has been registered against them at police station-8.
