On the directions of Ludhiana deputy commissioner Rajat Agarwal, district food and supply controller (DFSC) Sona Thind has formed a team which conducted the raids. The team was accompanied by cops.

District food and supply officer, Khanna, Surinder Berry along with a team raided Gulati Vaishno Dhaba where they found workers using some domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes. The dhaba owners reportedly manhandled the cops so more force was called to bring the situation under control.

Three domestic LPG cylinders were seized from Gujral Vaishno Dhaba. “Five cylinders in total were seized by our team under the Essential Commodities Act,”he said.

The use of domestic cylinders for commercial purpose is prohibited under Section 7 of the Essential Commodities Act and invites a punishment of six months in jail or fine, or both.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Surinder Berry said that the police were manhandled so more cops were called. “We have written to higher authorities to take required action against the owners,”he said.
