Four arrested for illegal sand mining

The Nakodar Sadar police on Sunday arrested Gurjit Singh and Balwant Singh, both residents of Bangiwal village, for illegal sand mining.

The police said the accused violated the orders of the Punjab and Haryana high court by indulging in illegal quarrying of sand in the area.

A case under Section 21 of the Punjab Mining Act and Section 379 (theft) of IPC hve been registered against the accused. Two tractor trolley have also been impounded.

While, Shahkot police also arrested RanjitSingh, a resident of Patto Khurd village, on the same charges and impounded a tractor trolley loaded with sand.
