As many as four cricketers of a city-based cricket academy, Nursery of Cricket, Centre for Excellence, have been selected to attend a twoweek training programme in Johannesburg, South Africa. As many as 43 cricketers from India will attend the 15-day camp that will begin on October 7 and conclude on October 21.
Sixteen- year- old Dilpreet Singh, off- spinner, Manjot Singh (12), spinner, Jaskaran Singh (14), medium fast bowler, and Navkirat Singh (11), batsman, are all excited to be a part of an international exchange programme where they will be trained under the professional guidance of international coaches at Morne Morkel’s Cricket Academy in South Africa.
As part of their training, they will play total nine matches with the cricket clubs in Johannesburg.
They were selected during the trials-where over 200 best crickets from the region had participated- conducted by Yuvraj Singh, Centre of Excellence, in Chandigarh on May 28.
Overjoyed on being part of the squad, Jaskaran said, “This is the first time I am visiting abroad to play cricket. It will be a completely different experience for me.”
Both Dilpreet and Manjot, who boast of beating cricketer Yuvraj Singh with their head turning spin deliveries during the camp, added, “South Africa is among the top cricket playing nations in the world. So playing and interacting with young players (clubs) and professional coaches will be give different dimension to our game.”
