Four-kg heroin, fake currency recovered on Indo-Pak border

Thwarting yet another smuggling attempt from Pakistani side, the Border Security Force (BSF) have recovered 4-kg heroin, valued at Rs 20 crore in the international market, and fake Indian currency of Rs 7.83 lakh on the Indo-Pakistan border.

Thwarting yet another smuggling attempt from Pakistani side, the Border Security Force (BSF) have recovered 4-kg heroin, valued at Rs 20 crore in the international market, and fake Indian currency of Rs 7.83 lakh on the Indo-Pakistan border.The recovery was made by the BSF troops in the area of border out-post (BOP) Pul Moran in Amritsar sector on Tuesday night.

Addressing a press conference here, BSF DIG MF Farooqui said, "BSF troops deployed in the area of BOP Pul Moran observed suspicious movement of miscreants across the fence around 11.30 pm on Tuesday. The BSF troops immediately challenged the miscreants but they did not pay any heed and continued with their aggressive posture. Sensing danger to their life and to check further misadventure, our troops fired on them in self-defence.

However, the miscreants managed to escape, taking advantage of a water channel and undulating ground on the border".

Later, a search operation was launched in the area and BSF troops recovered 4-kg heroin, fake currency of `7.83 lakh and 250 gm, he added.

The BSF DIG said, "Keeping in view the vulnerability of the border from smuggling point of view, BSF IG Ashok Kumar has issued operational guidelines to further strengthen border domination so as to effectively check narcotic smuggling and activities of anti-national elements on the Indo-Pak border in Punjab".
