Free coaching classes for the students of Residential School for Meritorious will start from March 10. This move of the state government aims to ensure that the students may crack competitive exams for higher education.

This school has students who have scored more than 80% marks in their matriculation examination. Under the free coaching programme, the students will get coaching for cracking the prestigious tests like IIT, JEE-IIT, AIIMS, NIT, BITS Pilani, AFMC Pune, CA, Law, CLAT and other courses including all the medical and engineering institutes successfully running in the state.

A society for promoting quality education among poor and meritorious students of Punjab, formed by the state government, had recommended to float tenders to provide coaching to the students. After that, the tenders of two private coaching centres, namely 'Aeon Educreators' for medical and non-medica, while 'ABC Tutorials' for commerce were approved.

Ludhiana deputy commissioner Rajat Agarwal said free coaching for competitive classes would be imparted to the students studying in the Residential School for Meritorious. He said Aeon Educreators and ABC Tutorials would impart coaching to students from 4 pm to 7pm daily from March 10.
